If you’ve recently struggled with your hearing, a primary care physician might have recommended having a hearing test performed. The Hearing and Tinnitus Center can provide all of the testing and evaluation services you need to determine whether a hearing aid may be right for you and, if so, which one could be the best fit.
We typically begin these evaluations by getting some details about how your hearing loss impacts your daily life. You may also be asked to provide some basic health information to help our audiologists gather a complete picture of your health.
The specific tests that we run can vary based on the kind of problems you’ve been experiencing. But you will often be asked to listen to audio content at different frequencies and then let us know what you’re hearing.
Interpreting Your Hearing Test Results
Once your testing has been completed, our audiologist will sit down with you to interpret the results. They’ll provide you with an in-depth look at the specific kind of hearing loss you’re experiencing and its severity.
This is a good opportunity for you to ask questions and provide more detailed information about your current hearing situation. Your audiologist will take all of these details into consideration before making a final care recommendation.
Treating Your Hearing Loss
Once your results have been made clear, the audiologist will make a formal treatment recommendation, which may include hearing aids. If so, they’ll tell you about how hearing aids can improve your hearing and your daily life.
This is the appointment when you typically get to look through the different hearing aid models that are available to you and learn about what differentiates them from one another. At The Hearing and Tinnitus Center, we offer a variety of hearing aids styles featuring cutting-edge technology like invisible-in-canal (IIC) designs and Bluetooth connectivity.
Once you’ve chosen your hearing aids, then your audiologist may make an impression of your ear canal if one is needed. Your hearing aids will be ordered from the manufacturer and will take several days to ship to our offices.
When they arrive, you’ll come in for another visit to complete a hearing aid calibration and fitting. This step ensures that your hearing aids are as comfortable to wear as possible and perform optimally for you.
